In collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA), the DPWH built a 468-lineal meter, 5-meter wide, two-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) farm-to-market road in Barangay Mambugsay, Cauayan town. The ₱10-million project, which includes grouted riprap for slope protection, benefits around 200 residents, most of whom are farmers.

Additionally, the DPWH partnered with the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) to complete a farm-to-mill road connecting Barangay Dancalan in Ilog town to Barangay Mambugsay in Cauayan. The ₱13-million project includes the construction of a 789-lineal meter, 5-meter wide, two-lane PCCP road with grouted riprap and a 28-lineal meter reinforced concrete pipe culvert.

The DPWH and DA also completed another farm-to-market road in Barangay Tampalon, Kabankalan City. This ₱5-million project involved building a 263-lineal meter, 5-meter wide, two-lane PCCP road with grouted riprap.

DPWH Regional Director Sanny Boy O. Oropel said these concrete roads provide better access to remote areas and facilitate faster, more cost-efficient transport of goods from farms to markets.

“These paved roads provide easier and safer access, benefiting local residents, farmers, motorists, and other road users, which will eventually enhance local economic development,” Oropel said.

He added that the roads offer more stable, all-weather access, significantly reducing road mishaps.

District Engineer Rodney A. Gustilo emphasized that these concrete roads will improve travel conditions and speed up access to essential services, boosting trade and agriculture in the area.

“These roads will positively impact the well-being of the people, spurring development in agriculture, transportation, and education by improving access to residential areas, businesses, and schools,” Gustilo said.

He also noted that the paved roads will improve travel comfort, offering a more convenient and cost-effective transportation experience for both motorists and residents.

The DPWH continues to implement key road projects that connect rural communities to main highways, facilitating faster transportation and access to government services. (DPWH)
