ECCP Explores Partnerships for Societal and Economic Development in Negros Occidental

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) team, consisting of Mr. Florian Gotein (ECCP Executive Director), Mr. Jose Bantiling (ECCP Western Visayas Business Council Chairperson), and Ms. Angelluz Aguirre (ECCP Western Visayas Officer), held a meeting with SP Representatives Hon. Valentino Miguel J. Alonso and Hon. Rita S. Gatuslao, Provincial Legal Officer and Acting Provincial Administrator Atty Alberto Nellas, Jr., PPDO Head Ms. Anna Marie Lucasan, EEDD Head Ms. Lucille Gelvolea, and PEDIC Representative Jhennilyn Medina.
Negros Occidental is eyed to be full of potential, where the ECCP members can partner and contribute to societal and economic development. This meeting was facilitated by the Province of Negros Occidental through the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Center.
The ECCP is a bilateral foreign chamber that promotes European interests in the Philippines and vice versa. They have been actively expanding their presence in Western Visayas and advocating the region as a promising investment destination.
European business culture is into sustainability especially on utilities, waste management and water resource management. One that is in line with the Provincial Government’s Priority Agenda.
Among the distinguished personalities who shared their expertise during the training were Director III of the Board of Investments (BOI) DIPS, Maria Rosario Dominguez, and Ms. Floreza Alpuerto, the Chief Investments Specialist from BOI Cebu.
The event also featured an Evaluation Panel composed of esteemed representatives from the Board of Investments and the Department of Trade and Industry Negros Occidental, tasked with assessing the effectiveness of the training and providing valuable feedback.
The Evaluation Panel members from the Board of Investments were Dir. Maria Rosario Dominguez – Director III, BOI Domestic Investment Promotion Service, Ms. Floreza Alpuerto – Chief Investments Specialist, Mr. Ariel Añedes – Supervising Investments Specialist, and Ms. July Anne Guibone – Investments Specialist. Also Mr. Engiemar Tupas, OIC Division Chief, Industry Development Division from the Department of Trade and Industry Negros Occidental, who lent his expertise to the evaluation process.
The training received positive feedback from the participants, who expressed gratitude for the invaluable insights shared by the resource persons and the opportunity to strengthen their skills in promoting investments within the region.
This Capacity Building Training marks a significant step forward for Negros Occidental in its pursuit of economic growth and development through attracting foreign direct investments. With the LGUs now better equipped with essential knowledge and strategies, the province is set to position itself as an attractive destination for foreign investors, potentially unlocking a new era of prosperity and progress for the region.
